Commonly used sterilization methods include Ethylene Oxide (EO), Radiation, Steam (Autoclave), Low-Temperature Formaldehyde Steam, and Hydrogen Peroxide Plasma. However, regardless of the method used, the sterilization process can potentially impact the packaging materials physically or chemically. This method currently has the least impact on the performance of sterile packaging materials, with effects being largely negligible. Consequently, it is the most widely used sterilization method today.

This method significantly affects polymer-based materials, requiring packaging to possess radiation-resistant properties. It is a potentially degradative sterilization method. If material quality is substandard, it can lead to degradation, causing issues like yellowing and embrittlement.
